About This Programme
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme bridges the gap between academic study and professional engineering practice. Many engineering graduates in Botswana find it difficult to secure their first engineering position without prior workplace experience. APDI works with a network of industry partners, contractors, consultants and public sector organisations to create structured placement opportunities where graduates can apply their academic knowledge in real engineering environments. Placements are supervised, mentored and aligned with the competency requirements of professional registration bodies. Graduates who complete a WIL placement gain documented work experience and a pathway into the IPD programme.
How It Works
Register on the APDI platform and complete your full profile. 2. Upload your academic transcript, qualification certificate and a current CV. 3. Submit a WIL application indicating your preferred location and engineering discipline. 4. APDI matches you with a suitable industry partner based on your profile and availability. 5. You are notified of your placement and introduced to your host organisation. 6. Complete the structured placement period with mentorship support from APDI. 7. Receive a verified placement record supporting your further professional development.
Programme Details
Who Qualifies
Open to engineering graduates or final-year engineering students at accredited institutions in Botswana. Applicants must hold or be completing a qualification in civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, mining, industrial or environmental engineering. Unemployed graduates are given priority consideration. Graduates currently employed in non-engineering roles are also welcome to apply.
